College of Education, National Chengchi University and Lingnan University jointly organized a Joint Research Workshop on April 28, 2023. Lingnan University Vice President Ka Ho Mok led the delegation to participate in the event, including Associate Professor Maggie Lau, Assistant Professor Padmore Adusei Amoah, Professor Yung Yau, and Associate Professor Yu Baohua Lucy. Due to the pandemic, Hong Kong scholars were unable to visit Taiwan in the past three years, making this visit by the LU delegation particularly significant. In addition, domestic higher education scholars were also invited to speak at the workshop, including Dean Chaoyu Guo, Professor Angela Yung-Chi Hou, Professor Joshua Smith, Emeritus Professor Ping-Yin Kuan, Associate Professor Pei-Yuan Tsai, Associate Professor Yuan-Chih Fu of Taipei Tech, Professor Sheng-Ru Jan of National Chung Cheng University, and Research Fellow Ssu-chin Peng of Academia Sinica.
The theme of this seminar is "The Impact of Regional Development and Social Policy on Higher Education," which focuses on four main topics: Cities and Urban Governance; Well-being and Social Policy; Education and Development Studies; and International / Regional Studies. In addition to the presentations, we also take this valuable opportunity to launch our new book, "Crafting the Future of International Higher Education in Asia via Systems Change and Innovation Reimagining - New Modes of Cooperation in the Post Pandemic”, which is co-edited by Professors Angela Yung Chi You, Ka Ho Mok, Joshua Smith and Chaoyu Guo and will soon be published on June, 20023 by Springer. The book discusses the most essential topics in understanding the development and changes of higher educational systems in Asia after the outbreak of the pandemic. It explores transformative, international, and innovative moves from an Asian perspective.
