The College of Education, National Chengchi University (NCCU) proudly served as a co-organizer of the Conference for Higher Education Research – Hong Kong 2025 (CHER 2025), held from April 29 to 30, 2025, at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong. With the theme “The Quest for Internationalisation of Higher Education: Comparative Perspectives and International Experiences”. As a member of the Asia Pacific Higher Education Research Partnership (APHERA), NCCU played a central role in shaping this year’s event, which welcomed more than 200 scholars and policymakers from over 15 countries, fostering robust international dialogue.
A major highlight was the keynote address by Professor Angela Yung Chi Hou, Professor of Higher Education at NCCU and a leading scholar in quality assurance. Her presentation, titled “From Fragmentation to Flexibility: Rethinking Quality Assurance and Frameworks for Micro-Credentials in Asian Higher Education,” offered fresh insights into the evolving role of micro-credentials in higher education systems. The keynote sparked vibrant discussion and engaged both academic and policy audiences. NCCU’s strong presence at CHER 2025 extended to its student scholars, with five students selected to present their research. Of these, three presented onsite at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong—Christopher Hong-Yi Tao, Chi-Wang Chiang, and Huei-Chun Yuan —while two presented online, including Muberra Kaynar and Chaoming Lee. Their work reflected NCCU’s ongoing commitment to fostering international academic exchange and cultivating emerging voices in higher education research.
The conference also featured a distinguished lineup of keynote and plenary speakers, including:
Professor Cheng Kai-ming, SBS, JP, The University of Hong Kong
Professor Simon Marginson, University of Oxford and University of Bristol
Professor Andy Green, University College London
Professor Joshua Mok Ka-ho, The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong
Through its role as co-organizer and contributor, the College of Education at NCCU reaffirmed its commitment in advancing international discourse on higher education.
